countdown

yesterday marked the official 1 month countdown to vacation! of course this called for some sort of celebration and what better way to celebrate then shop? i was very disappointed with this weekend's 4th of july sales. old navy had all their cold weather clothes marked down and had a nonexistent selection of short skirts. i'm shopping to show some skin on vacation and wearing 3/4 sleeve shirts, sweaters and long skirts is a no no. i was able to find a few things i liked and some necessaties for mario as well. i had much better luck at american eagle...they had the cutest skirts and summer dresses marked down to $15. so for the most part, i already have my wardrobe picked out for vacation week...the only thing i'm missing is some comfortable brown sandals.

aside from shopping, i spent the entire weekend with mario's grandma (jualita) and younger sister, marisol (we call her sol). friday night, mario and i took jualita and sol to a nice dinner at fishmonger's seafood. food was good, atmosphere was nice and we had some fun conversations. saturday, we had lunch at thai soon (jualita and sol's first time eating asian food) and went to alejandra's (mario's cousin) baby shower--that was quite interesting. i was one of the few that spoke english...i can understand enough spanish to make out what is being said, but i can't speak a lick of it. it was very interesting to see the cultural differences between hispanic and asian families and i had a really good time...everyone was very nice and welcoming. sunday was a pretty relaxed day...it was just me and sol for the most part at firewheel mall.
