isabelle's 1st birthday

our little girl is one year old and we had quite the busy weekend getting for isabelle's birthday bash this past sunday. i can't believe it has already been a year since she finished roasting in my little oven and came into this world. it has been a fun and fabulous year watching her grow into this beautiful little being that is ours. every time i look at her i am still amazed that i contributed to the creation of such a sweet miracle. i know mario shares the same feelings as i and until you become one, it is an indescribable feeling that you only experience and understand as a parent.

moving on with the sappy stuff! isabelle's birthday party went really well! we had a lot of people show up and everything went smoothly. there was tons of yummy homemade food, a good number of kids ranging from 9 months to 8 years, presents galore, sweet buttery cake (made by yours truly) and a big dora pinata. festivities kicked off with stuffing our faces with food and beer (for the adults of course) and then it was off to beating the candy out of dora. mario ultimately busted the pinata open, but only with the help of all the little kiddos and a very dizzy cuongpitt. then we sang happy birthday to isabelle and she had her very first taste of sugary icing and buttery cake (oh no!). needless to say, she ate every bit of her cupcake minus the icing! mario helped her open all the beautiful gifts and we ended her afternoon with a little ride in her new car-wagon. she's the first of her friends to get a "car" and it was absolutely hilarious watching all the little people follow her as she was being pushed around the house. i'm sure isabelle will remember the whole experience 10 years down to road, but in case she doesn't, we have pictures to remind her (honestly, i wish i had taken more). =)
